Jaye Dickson Mr. Dickson teaches shop classes. Class Schedule: 1st hour: Principles Of Technology 2nd hour: Planning 3rd hour: Fundamentals Of Engines/Auto Mechanics Seminar In Ag 4th hour: Ag. Productions 5th hour: Explorations 6th hour: Eng. Graphics 7th hour: Introduction To Agriculture
History: After graduating from Stafford High School, Mr. Dickson attended Hutchinson Community College receiving his Associate Arts Degree. Then he attended Kansas State University majoring in Agricultural Education and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture. While at Kansas State, he was a member of the wrestling team for three years. He did his student teaching in Ellinwood and taught vocational agriculture four years for USD 349 Stafford coaching wrestling and FFA advisor. Macksville High School then employed him 27 years ago. He said he would stay until wheat became $5.00 a bushel or retirement age which ever came first. He blew that, 26 years it finally made it over $5.00 a bushel. Vocational Ag I, Vo Ag II, Vo Ag III and Ag Power were his earlier classes. Than expanded into teaching technology classes along with Vo Ag classes and also added Principles of Technology, which is an applied physics coarse. Now his teaching duties include Explorations, Engineering Graphics, Ag Seminar, Automotive Engineering, Principles of Technology, Intro to VO Ag and Ag Production. Engineering Graphics, Ag Seminar, Automotive Engineering and Principles of Technology are dual credit classes through a concurrent program with Pratt Community College where the students receive college credit for the coarse. Also, he has been on the technology committee for USD 351 and serves as chairman. Mr. Dickson is a member of KNEA and Macksville Teachers Association and serves as chairman. One of his hobbies is keeping up on technology. He reads and tries to keep up on technology for educational purposes that would help the district. Teaching technology inspired him to get his masters degree from Fort Hays University in Instructional Technology.
Extra Curricular Activities: A couple of extracurricular district responsibilities include National Honor Society and Senior Class sponsor. Dickson’s philosophy includes - learning never stops at any age; work is nothing but a social affair and quotes are numerous - for instance - education builds character and a mere challenge of anything builds greater character.
