 COURSE DESRIPTION/Outline (reflects needed skills)

Emphasis of this ensemble is put on developing strong singing skills through a variety of instructional methods: score study, rhythmic skills (both aurally & visually), solo and small ensemble singing, listening assignments, and concerts. Students will gain a greater understanding of group commitment, increase creative abilities, and develop a lifelong appreciation of Music.

   Pencil/Highlighter

 

III.               GOALS (knowledge to be acquired, technical skills, standards, etc.)

The purpose of this class is to further the development of students to the        rudiments of vocal techniques and performance practices set with the music standards of the state of Kansas.

     

Students will be expected to:

·        Sing Unison, 2-part  and 3- part choral literature

·        Sing in a variety of languages

·        Have a basic understanding of music theory

·        Discuss and demonstrate elements of good vocal production

·        Communicate using music vocabulary

·        Work in a group setting

·        Exhibit proper choral etiquette, both in the classroom and in a concert setting

 

IV.            GRADING POLICY:

 

q      110 points daily consisting of:

 Participation – in class (attitude, musical competence and growth, attendance) =

q      250 points

Performances – includes any scheduled choir event

 

V.            ATTENDANCE POLICY/CLASS PROCEDURES: Macksville district policy is enforced.
